Inspiration

As humble game developers, we join the hackathon with modest resources and a spirit of learning. We know success isn't just about winning, but about the journey and the chance to grow. Each line of code and pixel we create is a step in our development, driven by our passion for gaming. Inspired by fellow developers, we navigate the competition with gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the gaming community in our own small way.

What it does

This is a multiplayer game where you can play as either Super Byte or Bug, the evil-cyborg-cat villain. Face off against your friends to see who will emerge victorious in an electrifying battle of wit and skill.

How we built it

This game was created with the Unity Game Engine, as well as Piskel, a free online editor for animated sprites & pixel art.

Challenges we ran into

Not having much Unity experience (nor game development experience for that matter) we ran into many challenges. There were many features we needed for our game that we did not know how to implement, so we had to learn it on the spot. We also have very little experience in creating pixel art and sprites. Overall, it was a very intense learning curve, but we definitely grew as game developers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of having completed a working and functional project. Normally during Hackathons we face a difficult time constraint, but this time we are proud to present all of you with something that we enjoyed and we hope you do as well.

What we learned

We learned SO MUCH UNITY. From hit boxes, to sprite maps, player inputs, and scripting, we have grown so much as developers and we hope to continue this growth so that in our next hackathon we may present you with something greater.

What's next for Byte Fight

We hope to continue developing Byte Fight by adding more features such as different attack moves with their own custom animations and more obstacles on the stage.
