Inspiration

As students, we are constantly applying for summer internships and part time jobs. The most effective ways to get interviews would be to apply to as many as we could and wait to see who emailed back. However, we found ourselves forgetting where we applied to and sometimes even submitting the same application for the same company. We wanted to eliminate that uncertainty.

What it does

BuzzZ is a website to help manage all your internship and job applications. It can be difficult to remember where and when you applied. BuzzZ can help you keep track of your application statuses and make sure you never apply for a job twice.

How we built it

We used node and express for the backend. To store our users' information, we connected our website to a monogodb database and deployed the site on heroku. The frontend was built using html and css with some help from Bootstrap.

Challenges we ran into

We initially wanted to use React for the frontend, but found it might be a bit tough to learn and connect it with the backend in a day. Ultimately we decided to stick with what we knew and allocated our time on other features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of having a finished product at our first hackathon. We got to work with a lot of different technologies here and learned a lot.

What we learned

We learned a lot about collaborative work and efficiency. We also learned a lot about connecting technologies, like connecting our website to mongodb, so that they could work together.

What's next for BuzzZ

There are still plenty of features that we were not able to implement due to a lack of time. We will add a feature to edit and delete each posting and make the site more visually appealing.
