A singular statistic inspired us to build this product. 26% of college students in the US are lonely. That meant there was a very real statistical possibility one of us at BuzzVault was lonely. Loneliness is now an epidemic among young adults in the US. But how can one solve a problem as complex as loneliness? How can you use tech to replicate the nuance of human interaction? Short answer: you don't.

We believe that the best way to solving for loneliness is to remind people of a time where they didn't feel lonely and of people who never let them feel lonely. BuzzVault provides users with the ability to create Vaults filled with memories in the form of pictures, videos, and text that only unlock after a "hatching period". Vaults simultaneously open to all those who were a part of the memory, sparking truly emotional conversation about a real human experience.

While our journey started off with a mere statistic, it was only about time we involved the fundamental units that make up these numbers- people. Speaking to dozens of college students- who we were building for- revealed a deep longing for reconnecting with their friends from high school. The overwhelming majority of students who felt disconnected from their old friends compelled us to innovate in this segment. After dozens of thought iterations about creating an Instagram 2.0 that weren't meaningfully any different than what already existed, we grew stubborn about creating a platform that users didn't feel incentivized staying long hours on.

The biggest challenge we faced was creating a way of catering to the demographic wanting to connect with friends from an earlier time. After dozens of thought iterations about creating Instagram 2.0 that weren't meaningfully different than anything that already existed, we grew stubborn on creating a platform that users didn't feel incentivized staying on long hours for.

Creating a monetization plan for a platform that structurally doesn't average many clicks is something we are extremely proud of. Also, creating an app that only requires a few minutes a week of usage and hence, won't contribute to brainrot was a pretty sigma W.

By far, our biggest lesson was gratitude for the relationships we have the pleasure of maintaining. This track introduced us to some harrowing stories of loneliness people have endured. We are deeply thankful for having somebody to speak to when we need it!

BuzzVault looks to secure an Instagram and Whatsapp integration to lower the barrier for entry to new users. We also have an exciting VR feature that we aim to improve drastically.
