✨ Inspiration We all have passions — things we love doing — but staying consistent with them is tough. Between school, distractions, and burnout, we often lose momentum. We wanted to build something that helps people stay on track with what they love. That’s how Buzzume came to life — an AI coach that gives you personalized motivation, like a friend who just gets it.
💡 What it does Buzzume is like your own mini cheerleader, powered by AI. You pick your passion — could be anything from coding to art or gaming — and Buzzume checks in, encourages you, gives you tips, and keeps you going when motivation dips. It's super simple to use and designed to feel chill, not overwhelming.
🛠️ How we built it We used HTML, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend — nothing too heavy, because we wanted it to feel fast and clean. The real magic happens with GPT-4o — it powers the personalized advice Buzzume gives. We spent a good chunk of time fine-tuning prompts to make sure it didn’t sound like a boring chatbot.
🧱 Challenges we ran into There were quite a few! Making the AI feel actually personal was tricky — at first, it just gave generic advice. Designing a UI that worked great on both phones and laptops took some trial and error too. And of course, we had to be careful with API usage to keep things efficient and budget-friendly.
🏆 Accomplishments we’re proud of Honestly, the fact that we got something working and polished in a short time is a win. The feedback we got was even better — people said it made them feel understood and encouraged. That’s exactly what we were aiming for.
📚 What we learned We learned that less is more. Trying to add too many features made the app feel noisy, so we focused on what matters: helping people stay motivated. Also, prompt engineering is powerful — changing a few words can completely shift how helpful the AI is.
🚀 What’s next for Buzzume We’re already thinking about adding streaks and small challenges so users can track progress. Maybe even a leaderboard where people can cheer each other on. The long-term idea is to let users “train” their Buzzume to sound more like them — like a true digital accountability buddy.
