Inspiration
My parents were my inspiration for this project. I want to keep them safe as they are 60+ years old.

What it does
The purpose of ringzone is to provide a safety zone while using a ring. Humans at different ages with different needs, may use the analog or digital version to succeed in germ-free and pro-active signaling in different spaces. The function can help elderly and disabled people feel more safe as they go. The vibrate function in the app provides deaf people with additional safety so they know they are heard as they go about their day. The goal is to provide social distance when needed. Including this on the supermarket carts as a standard will be a low cost fix for future pandemics and the current and future needs for social distance; hereby creating long term value and safety.
1. Helps people provide safety while shopping and doing other outside activities
2. Helps elderly and other people by having an easy go-to solution
3. It will make it easier for businesses to stay open during a pandemic
4. Easy to implement
5. It will help facilitation for businesses in the long run
6. People will help each other keep distance
7. Prevents the spread of germs - communication without using your mouth

How I built it
Using a screwdriver I removed the bell from my bicycle to test the level of comfort. For the digital version I used adobe XD.

Challenges I ran into
Building the digital version was indeed a challenge without the required software. Thanks to the skill mentors, I found a solution.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The research study confirmed that this is indeed a needed tool, and I am proud to be the head of leading a movement for more safety.
Also:
- Because of the tool people are keeping a distance
- No germs are being spread while saying 'excuse me' or 'may I pass'
- As elderly and disabled move slower they can now and warn people about their whereabouts
- Providing all users a feeling of security when leaving the house
- Giving businesses an opportunity for a solutions for distance keeping in store
- A great reminder we can give to each other and how we can communicate in the best way without words
- Giving people the distance that they need to feel safe

What I learned
This tool can impact a lot of humans. Both the analog and digital version have the potential to create better social distancing. In a study I conducted this hackathon, I learned that 64% of the people in my study have a desire for better social distancing. People especially feel the need when they are shopping for groceries in the supermarket. Also the analog tool is very easy to install on the different shopping carts, wheelchairs and strollers. It also works by just holding it in your hand.

What's next for Ringzone
As the prototype for the digital version is ready, the next step would be to start a recycling program for the analog models. Getting the bells which are currently in the junkyards is a great solution. Also, creating a kickstarter to provide bells for the people who need it the most and consequently get a headstart on maintaining the social distance.
