Inspiration
When I was 7 years old, my aunt in New Jersey gifted me a curry leaf plant. I got that plant home and watered it every day. I changed the soil every month. It grew into a beautiful big plant. The happiness I got from this experience was immense. The plant grew so much that I started giving out baby Curry plants to my community friends. This inspired me to start LocallyGrown. I realized so many local gardeners want to share their produce with their neighbors and friends. This website will be the place to go.
What it does
Reduce Envimrental Footprint and Greenhouse gasses. Improve community health and wellness. Sell locally grown produce from your garden and make a profit. Buy from your next-door gardener for a farm-to-table experience.
How we built it
I used Python as a backend and SQLite database. I used Javascript, HTML, and CSS to make the frontend. I used bootstrap to style my website.
Challenges we ran into
I ran into many database errors while trying to push data into the database.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the design of the website. I am proud of the impact this website will have on my community and the planet at large.
What we learned
I learned how to use my skills on a bigger platform and get to know a lot of people with whom I share my passion for coding. I learned how to put together all my learning in different frameworks and coding languages into one stunning website.
What's next for Buy/Sell:LocallyGrown Food
I plan to host and promote LocallyGrown to my community and my school. I plan to encourage my school board to buy products from my website to make cafeteria food healthier.
