Inspiration

Our inspiration comes from the poor waste management system in Indonesia. Currently, most of our household wastes aren't being appropriately recycled, and they are just left in the landfill to rot. The main concern is the overfilling of our landfills, which can cause a significant problem to the city or the environment nearby.

What it does

So we planned to create a web-based business that will make sure our household wastes are recycled properly while making a profit by reusing and recycling part of the wastes.

How we built it

We build it by collaborating with local waste collector and waste recycling company. Our project has created a mock website for the preview on how the system will develop in the future.

Challenges we ran into

The incomes are dependent on what waste our community produces the most. Based on 2018 data, more than 50% are organic waste, which means our primary source of income will come from recycling organic wastes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

If this project comes true, it will benefit us as a business and help our government solve national wastes issues and create a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

What we learned

We learned that we need to be more responsible for what we use and what we throw away cause it will not just affect our lives but also the lives of others

What's next for Butut Online

We planned to grow this to have our in-house waste management system. In the future we hope that this project will grow bigger and have a better reach throughout the community.
