Inspiration

As students ourselves, we know how hard it is navigate social and academic responsibilities while still taking care of ourselves. Through bloodshot eyes and the chaos of projects and quizzes, taking the time to shop for groceries to cook a nourishing meal may seem like an opportunity cost--despite how necessary it is. We aim to change that.

What it does

Butter Shopping looks to optimize shopping by analyzing your food habits and developing a personalized grocery list and schedule. Additionally, it works to find you the best deals and products closest to you. It essentially saves you your pennies, thoughts, and time. Never dread or forget about a grocery run again.

How we built it

We used Expo, Supabase, ElevenLabs, Grok Bot, and Cursor pro to develop an Android and iOS friendly mobile app and voice-activated AI assistant in REACT NATIVE.

Challenges we ran into

Although we ran into a few blocks while trying to use the APIs we had imported, we were able to work past them through repeated testing and debugging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our implementation of a multilingual voice-activated AI assistant and approachable UI as we value the accessibility they offer our application which is inherently tied to our mission.

What we learned

We greatly advanced our knowledge into building accurate AI agents and creating robust and comprehensive databases.

What's next for Butter Shopping

Butter Shopping hopes to expand nationally and partner with colleges to encompass on-campus grocery options and incorporate students's dining plans.
