Inspiration

We were inspired by games such as Overcooked, Plate Up!, and Stardew Valley. We hoped to combine a chaotic cooking game with the farming aspects of Stardew Valley.

What it does

Busy Buds is a co-op game where players must grow and make bouquets for customers under a time limit.

How we built it

We built Busy Buds using Godot. Canva was used to make the UI in the main menu and level completion scenes. Free assets were used for the game's environment and the player models.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing a multiplayer system was significantly harder than expected since we basically would have had to restructure most of our code to account for two players and two inventories.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built and implemented an "Overcooked" style mechanics as well as creating a fun and lively starting environment for the game.

What we learned

We learned a lot of useful components in Godot such as timers, collisions, event handling. etc. We also learned how to create and design a 3d game in Godot from scratch.

What's next for Busy Buds

In the future we would love to flesh out the multiplayer aspect, even adding an option for online co-op. Also we want to add more levels, maps, character customization, and different types of customization so that players can use their imagination to create beautiful bouquets and decorate their florist shop.
