Inspiration
The lack of tools to know the exact location of the bus which induces a huge time wasting by waiting in stations (up to hours...). Despite the mounted GPS in buses, the drivers don't activate them since they can be tracked and evaluated.
What it does
The system is composed from several checkpoints following the bus route. These latters detect the passage of the bus through its Acoustic Emission (AE) signature. When a bus detection is confirmed, the system sends the detection event and the time of detection for users in their mobile app. Another approach is also integrated to enhance the bus detectability which consists in using the bus user to localize in real time the bus through activating the smartphone GPS and sending data through a dedicated mobile app.
How we built it
The system is composed from an AE sensor connected to a microcontroller/microprocessor for signal analysis. The data (event and time) are sent to a gateway which connects the information to a cloud server. the data are then displayed in app mobile.
