Inspiration
Lucero actively involved in social, environmental, educational, and animal rights and movements. She feels greatly connected to this project as she always wonders if her everyday consumption or companies associated are truly ethical.
Esmeralda Luna is a recent high school freshman, she came up with the idea of informing people of the current gun control environment, and pitch the idea of creating a program that informs people of actions they can take.
In current year, we have noticed that people are constantly looking for companies and their attachment to ethical policies. To take away the headache of researching whether or not companies are ethical, we decided to hand the information along with ways to help your community and ways to get involved in campaigns.
What it does
The program is supposed to be a location where people can go and search if the products they use or companies they support or consume from, ex. Amazon, have any political connections or are not fair trade, natural, vegan, or cruelty-free.
How we built it
We used html and css to create the site.
Challenges we ran into
Since I am the only programmer and my sister was mainly in workshops, it was hard to finalized the program. We also did not find the right type of data sorter for this kind of project. No one has made one to locate the information we were looking for so we had to use sample data my sister gathered.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we came up with a good idea we are both passionate about. I am also proud that she was able to work with html to help and learn about coding.
What we learned
Esmeralda learned python and how a website is created and designed. I learned more about the backend part of the assignment.
What's next for Bust-a-Comp
I want to continue and finalize the project, I will need to create an algorithm and machine learning (I'm glad they had that workshop because it was very helpful) to find the correct information. For now, I will mainly base the information on what users input in out contact us page.
