Inspiration
The idea behind Business Valuation Software – FundTQ came from working closely with early-stage founders who often struggled to understand and justify their startup’s value. We saw a gap—traditional valuation methods were too complex or expensive. So we decided to build a tool that simplifies the valuation process without compromising on accuracy, especially for non-finance founders.
What it does
The software allows founders to calculate the value of their business using industry-standard models like Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Comparable Company Analysis, and Scorecard Valuation. It offers an easy-to-use interface, clear input prompts, and actionable reports. It’s designed to help startups make informed fundraising, equity, and strategic decisions.
How I built it
We built the tool using a modern tech stack, combining a user-friendly frontend with a robust backend capable of handling real-time calculations. We integrated financial logic models and automated formula frameworks to ensure precision. Industry benchmark data and startup-specific metrics were also layered in to make the outputs realistic and investor-relevant.
Challenges I ran into
- Simplifying complex financial models without dumbing them down
- Creating intuitive UX for users unfamiliar with valuation concepts
- Ensuring cross-industry applicability for varied startup sectors
- Maintaining performance as financial computations scaled
- Balancing flexibility with structure in the input system

- Helped multiple startups validate their funding ask with confidence
What I learned
- Simplicity in design is more powerful than feature overload
- Real-world startup needs are often more practical than theoretical
- Constant feedback from real users is critical to building relevant tools
- Valuation is both a science and an art—it needs context, not just numbers
