Inspiration
As a college student, I’ve experienced firsthand how essential financial literacy is for managing personal finances effectively. Juggling expenses like tuition, rent, groceries, and leisure activities while saving for future goals can be overwhelming. This inspired me to create a solution that simplifies financial management and educates users on better spending and saving habits. I wanted to build something engaging and easy to use, catering to students and young professionals who are navigating the complexities of financial independence.
What it does
FinTrack is a financial education app designed to revolutionize the way we understand and manage money. By syncing with UPI apps like Google Pay and PhonePe, it automatically tracks expenses, categorizes spending, and provides a personalized “Financial Wrapped” summary at the end of the year. Users can see where their money went, how much they saved, and areas where they could improve. With AI-powered financial advice and gamified learning modules, FinTrack empowers users to take control of their finances while building financial literacy in a fun and interactive way.
How we built it
- Concept Development: The idea was born out of a need for a financial management tool that combines automation with education.
- User Journey Mapping: We outlined the core functionalities, focusing on ease of use and seamless integration with existing UPI apps.
- Business Model Creation: A freemium model was devised to ensure accessibility for students while offering advanced features for premium users.
- Prototype Design: Sketches and mockups were developed to visualize how the app would look and function.
- Research: We analyzed APIs from UPI platforms and explored AI tools for personalized insights and advice.
Challenges we ran into
- Integration Complexity: Ensuring seamless sync with multiple UPI apps while maintaining data security was a challenge.
- Balancing Simplicity and Functionality: Designing an app that is both feature-rich and beginner-friendly required iterative refinement.
- Financial Education Content: Curating effective and engaging educational modules tailored to individual user needs was time-intensive.
- AI Advice Accuracy: Ensuring that financial advice provided by AI was reliable and compliant with best practices in personal finance.
