Inspiration
I was walking down the street when I had the idea to add some 3D models to every type of shop, such as a bodybuilder exercising in a gym, a food model in a restaurant, and a doctor in a hospital. As a result, users can have fun on the streets.
What it does
This Business Introducer will add a 3D character with animation to the user's nearby gyms, restaurants, and hospitals. Users who use this app to watch the streets find it amusing and interesting.
How we built it
I used Google Maps' nearby places API to retrieve a list of nearby locations where I could place 3D models. And because the location is updated every 200 meters, new data is added and old data is deleted to save memory. I used some free characters and animations from mixamo.com.
Challenges we ran into
VPS is not available in India, and GPS location is not always accurate, so models are sometimes misplaced, showing 4-5 meters away from the actual distance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accurate earth data is obtained by analyzing buildings and streets using Geospatial API.
What we learned
I learned to place data thanks to the Geospatial API by merging it with Google's nearby places API.
What's next for Business Introducer AR
Currently, it places models only on restaurants, gyms, and hospitals, but I'll add more categories and new models with new animations to have more fun.
