Inspiration
Small online sellers run their business across many apps: TikTok and Instagram for marketing, Amazon and Shopify for orders, WhatsApp and Gmail for customers, and Stripe for payments. Switching between them all day makes it easy to miss a follow-up or ship an order late. We wanted to give a solo merchant one place to see what needs attention and act on it.
What it does
Business Brain is a single workspace for small ecommerce sellers.
- Connect your apps: platform-specific setup for seven platforms — pick a TikTok or Instagram page, enter a WhatsApp Business number, or choose an Amazon marketplace and Seller ID — with a live connection counter.
- Prioritized To-Do List: the most urgent task appears on top. In our Amazon order example, the seller prints a shipping label and then decides whether to send the customer a tracking link, all on the same card, then completes the task and moves to the next one.
- Progress that survives a refresh: task completion and label steps are saved per signed-in account.
- Business Chat: the seller chooses from seven specialist agents (customer, sales, marketing, inventory, finance, operations, analyst).
- Plans: Free, Pro ($29.99/month), and Pro Plus ($49.99/month).
Prototype scope: Firebase sign-in, the user flows, and saved progress work. Platform connections, chat replies, label printing, tracking messages, and billing are simulated so we could test the experience before connecting production APIs.
How we built it
React 19 and TypeScript, built with Vite, styled with Tailwind CSS v4, routed with React Router v7, and using Lucide icons. Firebase Authentication handles email and Google sign-in as our hosted backend service. The app is wired to save user profiles to Cloud Firestore, which we will enable as the next step. There is no custom server yet; demo data and progress are stored in the browser. Connection state lives in its own React context, and the To-Do List validates saved data before restoring it. Keeping state, data, and UI separate means demo data can be replaced by real APIs without rewriting the interface.
Challenges we ran into
Keeping several platform connections in sync without one update overwriting another, designing a multi-step shipping flow that stays on a single card, and restoring saved progress safely while keeping each account's data separate.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A shipping workflow where the seller never leaves the order card, connection forms that match how each platform really identifies an account, and a consistent, clean interface across onboarding and settings.
What we learned
How much UX matters for busy sellers: fewer screens and clear next steps matter more than more features. We also learned to structure a frontend so simulated services can later be replaced by real integrations.
Business model
Our customers are solo merchants and small ecommerce teams without an operations team. Revenue comes from subscriptions: Free (three basic agents) lets sellers try the product, Pro at $29.99/month ($299.99/year) unlocks all seven agents, more connections, and up to five team members, and Pro Plus at $49.99/month ($399.99/year) adds custom workflows and multiple businesses. Main costs will be hosting, platform API access, and AI usage. Prices are proposed; billing is not active in the prototype.
What's next for Business Brain
Replace simulated connections with authorized platform APIs, connect Business Chat to a language model, move tasks and events to a backend database, and run printing and notifications as background jobs so the same interface can serve more sellers and higher order volume.
