Inspiration
We took a lot of time to figure out what we could accomplish with the low skills we have, so we first decided to make a website and then the idea really just came to us. Something we are both passionate is using dollars (or the lack of) to "vote." We know that when large groups come together to make an impact, that impact is incredibly large, so we wanted to come up with something where people can come together and stay informed about the corporations they may be investing in that are doing harm, and create a community based on boycotting those corporations in order to get them to change their policies.
What it does
It is a community-driven website that puts all information about what corporations are either doing wrong or not doing. It would also have some social media where boycotts would be organized.
How we built it
We used the WIX website builder and did some research ourselves to replicate a few "community" submissions.
Challenges we ran into
Half of the time working was spent brainstorming. We had a lot of big ideas but after some thought, we realized that they were simply beyond our skillsets. The site builder we used only let one person edit at a time, so we had to rely on a lot of verbal communication to stay on the same page.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We spent A LOT of time coming up with ideas, and we both definitely got discouraged because neither of us had much experience with coding so we tried to work around that.
What we learned
With a lot of time and determination, you can figure anything out regardless of how much experience you have.
What's next for Business Boycotting
A step forward would probably be to actually finalize our social media and get an audience so boycotts can start to happen.
