After years of experience waiting outside in the cold -- sometimes over half an hour for a bus -- a significant number of students from all over the country have been affected by the dangers of waiting just too long for the bus. We created this app to improve the bus experience for future generations of kids. This app allows bus drivers to help students more safely arrive at school than ever before. Specifically, our app allows for a direct communication between those drivers and their student passengers. We implemented the app through Android Studio by programming in Java.
However, within twenty-four hours, it was especially challenging given our lack of experience to learn and implement certain features such as databases and servers.
Despite that, we are most excited about the relevance and necessity of the app to help solve this concerning issue for many American families. With the skeleton and initial concept in mind, our group looks to further develop the application by adding features such as bus tracking via Google maps.
