I designed and developed the UI. I also used the Twilio API to create a button that would help the passengers call 911. Their location would automatically be given to the emergency personnel. However, we decided not to implement that feature in our app due to the new iOs update already having it.
Throughout the hackathon, we all ran into many challenges due to this being our first iOs app. We all had to learn Swift. My biggest challenge was not being able to implement the features I wanted to due to technology restrictions.
For example, I attempted to create a secure way for the customer to pay online using their QR code. The idea was to load the website on the driver's screen so he could scan QR codes, keep track of how many people are on board, and accept payment. I was using the Google Payment API to implement this on our webpage, however, I ran into the challenge of not being able to use PayPal or Apple Pay. I needed to install Ruby for it and I didn't have the admin access on the Mac I used to develop. Thus, we also didn't implement this feature in our final hack.
