Inspiration
We wanted to find a better way to communicate bus changes since the changes can be confusing.
What it does
Our app allows bus drivers to communicate with students about changes and possible delays
How we built it
We use android-studios.
Challenges we ran into
We had never used android studio before, and had to learn its interface, API, and specific usages. Using firebase combined with android studio also created a plethora of issues which most of them were solved, but the rest were set as future additions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to make a functional prototype as well as a powerpoint in the time allotted, and we were able to work in separate groups to accomplish different tasks.
What we learned
We learned how to use firebase and android studio, along with other plugins and gradle, to create a functional android app that serves a meaningful purpose.
What's next for μBus
μBus's future consists of refining its features, adding more certification and security features, and potentially proposing this to AISD and other school districts.
