Inspiration
Burn injuries can happen unexpectedly, and in those first few moments, people may not know what to do. Is the burn minor? Should they seek medical attention? What first-aid steps are appropriate?
We wanted to build something that could help people make sense of that situation quickly and clearly.
That idea led us to BurnCare AI, a healthcare-focused AI project designed to provide preliminary burn assessment, first-aid guidance, emergency awareness, and recovery tracking in one simple platform.
Our goal was not to replace doctors. Instead, we wanted to create a tool that helps users understand their situation and recognize when professional medical care may be needed.
What it does
BurnCare AI provides a guided workflow for people dealing with a burn injury.
Users can:
- Upload a photo of the burn for AI-assisted analysis.
- Answer questions about how the injury happened, where it is located, its size, and symptoms.
- Receive a preliminary risk assessment based on the available information.
- Get clear first-aid and care guidance.
- Identify warning signs that may require urgent medical attention.
- Find guidance for seeking professional medical care.
- Track visual changes during recovery by adding photos over time.
- Interact with an AI care assistant for additional guidance.
The core workflow is:
See → Assess → Guide → Escalate → Track
BurnCare AI is designed as a guidance tool, not a medical diagnostic system.
How we built it
We designed BurnCare AI around a simple principle: healthcare information should be understandable and actionable.
We created a user-friendly interface that guides the user step by step instead of overwhelming them with medical terminology.
The platform combines:
- A responsive web interface
- Image-based AI analysis
- A structured burn questionnaire
- A guid
