Inspiration
Inspired by dungeon-crawlers, table-top roleplaying, open worlds, and the brilliant mind of Mike Pondsmith. This parody of Cyberpunk 2077 will take you on a grunge-filled journey and leave your keyboard dripping with grease.
How to play:
To navigate the world of BurgerPunk 1999, use the game chat window. It is able to understand most requests and guide you, but for the best experience, use the following commands:
- >move [direction]: Navigate the dystopian world.
- >talk [character]: Interact with characters for clues and quests.
- >inventory: Access collected items and secret codes.
- >use [item]: Utilize items from your inventory.
- >attack [enemy]: Engage in combat using menu magic and spatula skills.
- >order [menu item]: Cast spells or initiate drive-thru duels.
- >cook [recipe]: Attempt to cook recipes found throughout the adventure.
- >explore [location]: Discover new areas, hidden fast food joints, and ancient drive-thrus.
How we built it
This was built using the new PartyRock powered by AWS. It is a multi-prompt system, with several sub-prompts creating content for this interactive experience. Art for the logo and concept art for characters was produced in Stable Diffusion, and the voice of our dear announcer Johnny Silverhand, was created using voice cloning technology by ElevenLabs.
Challenges we ran into
There were times when I wanted to choose between random number generation, or allowing the prompts to choose between a fix set of options. I decided ultimately to let the models invent most content, but I did find a clever way to implement RNGs in prototypes ;)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
However complex, I am proud to run this interactive experience exclusively on PartyRock.
What we learned
I learned a basic form of dataflow programming and ways to split a prompt into various aspects across diverse LLMs.
What's next for BurgerPunk 1999
Loyal fans, expanded story and hopefully some playthroughs from fellow hackers!
