Inspiration
We were inspired by all those little moments where everyone tends to wonder if there really is no better option out there, while keeping in mind people who struggle with being financially responsible.
What it does
BunQuick automates all kinds of little moments for you: splitting bills with your friends by just taking a picture of the receipt, giving you smart budget recommendations based on your current targets, comparing products you want to buy with the local market and ensuring you always have the best deal, or even just requesting a transfer to be initiated with nothing but your voice.
How we built it
While we were aware it was ambitious to create multiple features, our team went all in on BunQuick and through a combination of our skills, the amazing tools from Anthropic and Amazon and the support of the staff, we managed to get it done and host of it on AWS. Our app can interpret any modality of communication (text, speech and images) and the AI agent decides what endpoint of our app's API should be consumed. We then let the bunq API work its magic and voila, an user-friendly multi-modal tool for all kinds of people and needs.
Challenges we ran into
Splitting our focus across multiple topics was tricky, and bringing them all together was even harder. Bridging gaps and catching each other up to speed took a lot of team spirit and hard work. Additionally, a lot of the used tools were new for all of us, so we had to spend a significant portion of our time familiarising ourselves with them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're very proud of having a modular, fully fledged out app that has the potential to make a lot of people's experience with banking that much more enjoyable. A highlight of our short time here was seeing the full pipeline work for the first few times, having it feel almost like magic.
What we learned
We learned new tools can be tough to work with but we can always work our way through it, and that quick prototyping is very helpful, as it's easier to fix something that's broken than something that's not there. Moreover, any challenge can be overcome with patience and good, supportive teammates around.
What's next for BunQuick
A next step for us would be fine tuning the pipeline and the prompts, making the UI more user-friendly and engaging, and adding extra functionality such as speech-to-speech or NFC enabled bill splitting. There's a lot of exciting opportunities here and we'd love to work more on the project we put our heart in to.
