Inspiration
Friends constantly flaking? A ski trip falling apart? “Guaranteed” trips to Japan vanishing into thin air? We’ve all seen group plans dissolve because someone couldn’t resist impulse spending and couldn't afford their share. This frustration inspired us to tackle the problem at its root—by turning saving into a group activity that’s fun, social, and a little bit guilt-driven. Enter bunq and dunk.
What it does
bunq and dunk helps groups save for shared goals—using gamification, bunq account tracking, and social pressure to keep everyone on track.
How we built it
Python + FastAPI backend, React frontend, bunq API for real-time banking, Gemini + Google APIs for generating trivia/messages/search, MCP for grounding of source truth.
Challenges we ran into
Getting used to the bunq api and becoming familiar with MCP for the first time.
Accomplishments we're proud of
Nice front-end, agentic managerial workflows, and implementing MCP from scratch.
What we learned
Not to switch internet (and therefore IPs) during a hackathon....
