💡 Inspiration

I’m not the greatest interviewee. I used to get insanely nervous pre-meeting: heart pounding, palms sweating, frantic thoughts and I still do. Even though I was able to solve technical questions I used to fumble while answering behavioral questions. And most of the time it was because I didn't prepare for those rounds that well. I was more focused on technical rounds. A lot of candidates make this mistake. They underestimate these rounds and the questions asked in these rounds. Starting from confidently introducing yourself to asking questions from the recruiter at the end of the interview can have a huge impact on your chances of getting hired.

67% of job seekers are unable to make eye contact.

39% of the candidates get rejected due to overall confidence level, voice quality, or lack of smile.

47% of the candidates failed the job interview because they didn’t have enough information about the company they applied to.

Job interview statistics show that nearly 50% of the applicants failed the interview because of the lack of knowledge they had about the company and the job they wanted. Many don’t make eye contact during interviews and don’t practice enough for the behavioral round of interviews that test one’s personality and communication skills. It’s important to maintain a proper pace while speaking and answering questions, and posture also needs to be maintained. Candidates are recommended to read about the company, its core values and prepare themselves for common questions. These might seem like small things but they can have a big impact on the interviewee’s performance. A lot of candidates get rejected in the final round of interviews because of all these factors.

🤳 What it does

Interview Bunny helps candidates in preparing for their interviews by providing a live posture and speech detection model. In the practice section of Interview Bunny, users can practice different interview questions by selecting random questions, users can see posture score which determines if their posture is correct or not. If the value is greater than 80 that means their posture is correct but if they slouch the values decreases. Their voice is also recorded and analyzed that users can see by clicking on the Result button that shows words per minute, slouching duration, and correct posture duration. Candidates can practice questions every day and improve themselves.

HireVue launched its AI assessment service in 2014 as an add-on to its video-interview software, which more than 700 companies have used for nearly 12 million interviews worldwide. A lot of candidates these days have to go through one such round. I myself gave these and I know being prepared with questions is very important. Interview Bunny app can be used to prepare for HireVue rounds as well.

In company info sections users can find the most frequently asked behavioral round questions of specific companies like Google, Amazon and check their answers as well. Other users can also vote for these questions if they encountered the same question in their interviews and this helps in increasing the popularity of a question and it appears on top of the list. Users can also contribute questions that they come across in their interviews by posting them.

Users can also get feedback on their video answers. They can record a video of them answering questions like “What is your strength?” and other similar questions and then post it in a community forum where other users give feedback by commenting.

Resume Review allows users to get their resumes reviewed. Peer review can be very helpful. We recommend users remove personal information like their contact details etc while posting their resume so that their contact details don’t get misused.

⚙️ How we built it

Interview Bunny was made with Flutter💙, a cross-platform framework by google. Pose detection model was trained using TensorFlow lite and speech to text conversion was done using speech_to_text flutter package. It was then analyzed to calculate different parameters.

🤔 Challenges we ran into

I started late because of other commitments and had a hard time figuring out pose detection, speech analysis, and fixing bugs. I tried my best to finish a working prototype of my idea. Though I wasn’t able to complete a lot that I had planned for this project I’ll definitely try to work on it after the hackathon and ask some of my friends to join in if they like the idea.

🏅 Accomplishments that we're proud of

Proud of finishing the working app and submitting it to PowertToFly Hackathon

💭 What's next for interview bunny

  • The user interface needs improvement
  • 1:1 Peer mock interview will be a good addition
  • Award/point system for reviewing the resume and video answers and some incentive to users like premium features of the application can be given
  • More features like automated resume review, recommendations, and a lot more can be done
