Inspiration

It can sometimes feel overwhelming to find events that one would like to participate in or volunteer for, with different accounts of various organizers via different platforms. This inspired us to create an app called ‘Bundle’ which aims to connect the community together by letting users filter and select different events and opportunities hosted by organizers based on their preferences.

What it does

Bundle is your ultimate companion for discovering and connecting with the heartbeat of your community. At its core, Bundle simplifies the process of discovering local events by aggregating them all in one place. But it's more than just an event calendar – it's a platform designed to empower individuals like you to find events tailored to your interests and identity.

Our mission is simple: to eliminate the barriers that stand between you and the vibrant community you crave. With Bundle, you can filter events based on specific groups, such as gender inclusivity, ensuring that you find spaces where you feel welcomed and represented.

How we built it

On the front-end, we used Figma to visualize and design the user interface. On the back-end, we used Javascript to implement the proper responses after user actions (such as the event submission form, event list display, and event filtering), converting our events to and from JSON to ensure persistence.

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out the text selection was trickier and more time-consuming than expected, from figuring out the source of the slight misalignment between the different modes (checked and unchecked), to incorporating autolayout.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud of what we've managed to achieve as a team. In the beginning, none of us had a clue about where to start, which felt a bit overwhelming. But we stuck with it, learned together, and somehow, we got the hang of using Figma. Considering none of us had any experience with it before, it’s pretty cool that we were able to use it for our project. It’s been a great journey from not knowing anything to creating something we’re all proud of. It just goes to show what we can do when we work together.

What we learned

We learned quite a lot about designing in Figma, from making different variants for animating prototypes, to using autolayout for option selection. We also had to communicate regularly to ensure that everyone was on the same page and working towards a shared envisioned user flow.

What's next for Bundling our Community Together

Enhanced Personalization: We're constantly refining our algorithms to provide even more personalized event recommendations tailored to your interests, preferences, and identity. Get ready for a curated experience that truly reflects who you are and what matters most to you.

Expanded Accessibility: We're committed to making Bundle accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. Stay tuned for updates as we roll out new features and initiatives to ensure that all members of our community can participate and thrive. For one, we would love to include more inclusive design such as compatibility with hearing aids, impaired vision and different languages.
