BULLY - Candy Karma
Inspiration
This was a pure exercise in rhythm and tone. I wanted to see if I could take the assets from the "Bully" short film and re-edit them into a hard-hitting, 30-second teaser that felt more like a music video or a brand ad.
What it does
This is a 30-second, high-energy teaser trailer. Its purpose is not to tell a story, but to sell a vibe. It's a rhythmic, percussive piece of visual art.
How we built it
This is all in the edit. I took the most impactful shots from the "Bully" short and cut them to a driving, percussive beat in Premiere Pro. The focus was 100% on motion and rhythm, ending with a clean, powerful title card.
Challenges we ran into
The challenge was to "kill your darlings" and cut out anything that wasn't essential to the rhythm. It's a completely different mindset from narrative editing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of \It's a successful "remix." It proves that the same footage can be used to create two totally different pieces of art with different purposes.
What we learned
A 30-second teaser and a 60-second narrative film are two completely different art forms. The teaser is about feeling, the film is about story.
What's next for BULLY (Teaser)
This is a complete, standalone piece. It serves as a great, fast-paced ad for the longer "Bully" concept.
