Inspiration
Currently at USF there is no way for students to effecitvely look for upcoming events. They have to go to different sources and often time, the events have conflicting information such as overlapping date and time.
What it does
This centralizes all the event details into an interactive map where students can see all the events from the organizations they follow with live updates. It sends out notification to alert students before the start of the events, and send remind base on users' reference.
How we built it
We built the website mainly with C# using the .Net framework, SQL for it database manipulation
Challenges we ran into
None of the members had web development experience so most of our struggles came here. Setting up the database in the cloud was time consuming and we had difficult time to connect to our website. We connected our application to google's API and making ithe map interactive was also challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
With our best effort when it come to learning new technology with the .Net framwork, SQL programming language, C# for web application, we got the foundations set for future development after long hours of coding
What we learned
How difficult it is to make websites but also how powerful cloud computation can be for creating and running applications.
What's next for BullMap
Focus on personal student experience for example students get recommeded organizations to follow based on the organizations they follow and an algorithm that uses related keywords. Focus on organization focus for example if an organization needs sponsors or guest speakers. Implement the interactive portion of the map
