Inspiration
We got the inspiration to do this project after seeing the different components and we thought it would be a great challenge for us.
What it does
The system's purpose is to try and control a Parrot Mambo moving an arm. This kind of functionality is very easy to use by anyone and it would be very useful in a lot of circumstances.
How we built it
We used code repositories that we found that were run in Node.js, and we used them to communicate with the Drone and control it. To detect the arm's movement we used an Arduino One with a gyroscope connected to it. The communication was via Bluetooth.
Challenges we ran into
There were some official libraries that promised an easy way to make an Android app, but unfortunately it was not possible to use them in the time we were given, so we decided to substitute it with an Android device.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to connect both devices successfully and the basic functionality was achieved.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Node.js, Arduino, teamwork and working under pressure.
What's next for Bullhorn's Drone Controller
There's tons of different ways this project could be upgraded: making it work for Android and use a mobile phone, infinite refining of the detection function...
