Inspiration

This project idea was inspired by the keynote speaker that spoke at this year's hackathon, Alana Nichols. She is a paralympic athlete that spoke about the importance of consistency in one's schedule. She stated that even though she does not feel motivated to complete her responsibilities, she does it because it keeps her consistent. That consistency is what furthers her life and career forward. Taking that aspect into our project we decided to make a virtual bullet journal that would help people keep consistent with their lives.

What it does

This is a virtual bullet journal that allows the user to create their daily tasks for the day and can switch between multiple tabs. These multiple tabs contain the weekly tasks, monthly important dates, and any future planning that the user might have. So the user can plan out their week, input any important dates they would like to keep track of, and any goals they have for the future as well.

How we built it

We built it by using Glitch which gave us the template for the HTML, CSS, and javascript which made the coding much easier to get started on. We also used firebase, which allows us to host our website on a site. Not only that but we used bootstrap as an imported reference as well to obtain the HTML and CSS elements in a much easier fashion.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into had to do with us not being well versed in HTML, CSS, and javascript. We ran into obstacles that consisted of us not knowing how to make buttons work and the styling of some elements as well. One other challenge that we ran into was figuring out what type of idea we should do for our project since anything we thought of was already achieved at a certain point. Technically our idea as well is something that has been thought of, but we know that it's different in its simplistic and fun way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Bullet journaling is something that intimidates a lot of people due to the complexity of the varying ways you can bullet journal. We're proud of the simple-to-understand method that we have implemented in creating the website for our project. We are also proud of the man different things we have mastered in such a short amount of time.

What we learned

We gained a deeper understanding of how to use HTML CSS and javascript. We also learned how they interconnect with each other to make the code work. We also learned how to use Figma, an app prototype website, which allows you to see what the completed version of the app would look like. Not only that, but we have also learned how to Firebase, the hosting website for our website. We learned many new things during this hackathon and we also have a list of things we would like to learn due to the amount of new information we received over the past 2 days.

What's next for BuJo

We would like to create more functionality on the website that allows the user to get creative with their bullet journal. Not only that but we would like to have the app version of BuJo up and running so we can see the functionality on mobile and what we would need to change.
