Inspiration
Ready to deploy REST API solution to integrate companies website with there OpenEdge backend.
What it does
Based on defined data sets both systems can exchange data by REST services.
How I built it
In OpenEdge we define ProDataSets and Business Entity classes with REST annotations for the required services.
The services are packaged for deployment. This supply the basic API infrastructure for the integration.
The methods that perform the CRUD, Submit and Invoke needs customized implementation by the end application provider them self.
To communicate to the API at the Sitefinity we build classes and procedures that can interact forward them. To have a skeleton interface setup which need customized implementations handling the input and output of the methods by the application provider.
From the Sitefinity side and equal kind of approach need to be developed.
Challenges I ran into
The invite the team members that can help with and do the integration on the Sitefinity side. To define the information objects and data exchange structure for the APIs.
Accomplishments that I would be proud of
Be part of the team that can deliver the integration of those APIs.
What I learned
We should work more on integration solution for our customers and building our companies team spirit.
What's next for Building Standard REST APIs between OEPAS and Sitefinity
Sitefinity is delivering websites for organizations with great user experiences. It is like an extended WEB application we can interact with OpenEdge backends.
