Inspiration

Our journey began with a shared passion for improving maternal healthcare accessibility, driven by our personal experiences as mothers and future mothers. As Black mothers, we recognized the limitations of existing birth planning apps and the pressing need for a more comprehensive solution. This led us to create BloomCare, an all-in-one app designed to empower women with a wealth of resources and support, from birth planning to postpartum care and beyond. With features like journaling, access to local doulas and midwives, resources for postpartum and spousal abuse support, and the assistance of our AI companion, Bertha, we're committed to nurturing every aspect of motherhood and ensuring that no woman feels alone on her maternal journey.

What it does

BloomCare is a mobile app offering accessible maternal care for first-time moms, postpartum moms, and women planning pregnancy. It provides tools for birthing experience planning, access to local care providers, and features for tracking wellness and symptoms. With resources for postpartum depression, domestic violence support, and evidence-based information, BloomCare empowers women to make informed decisions about their maternal health journey.

How we built it

We used a mock up app website called uizard.io.

Challenges we ran into

1) Narrowing down what features to include in the app 2) Thinking of what would differentiate ourselves from other applications that are similar

Accomplishments that we're proud of

1) Completing a mock up of our idea for BloomCare 2) Creating a solution that is centered around black women

What we learned

1) The birth planning tech industry is quite competitive 2) How AI can be used to educate users who are conceiving, pregnant, or parents in a simple and approachable way 3) One of our team members practiced creating a complete app mockup for the first time

What's next for BloomCare: Nurturing Motherhood

Next would be to finalize all of the screens and develop an app. We'd translate the UI mockup into functional code, working closely with developers to ensure the app's design and features are implemented correctly.
