Inspiration

We got this inspiration from the emotion of being challenged in an area that we do have experience but this project elevated the expectations. It was pretty challenging but that just made us more and more interested in this work

What it does

We used the inventory provided by the company Gategroup to develop a system that reads barcodes using an AI, which helps scan the codes more easily even if they are slightly torn or bent. The system captures the codes of each product to check its expiration date and indicate whether it is within five days of expiring.

How we built it

This project was built using JavaScript and Python files to integrate the AI and configure the project’s code, MySQL as the database manager, HTML and CSS for PC graphical interfaces, and Figma for mobile interfaces.

Challenges we ran into

Although we had limited knowledge of how this project would be carried out, at times the requirements and the tools needed were beyond our understanding, as we were not fully familiar with them or how to implement them. These challenges required patience, understanding, and teamwork, things gradually came together.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Achieving satisfactory results not only for ourselves but also for our sponsors is undoubtedly something to celebrate. Our team was able to solve all the challenges we faced, achieving not only a great outcome but also an excellent teamwork experience.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned a great deal about teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of adapting to new technologies. Despite starting with limited knowledge of how to carry out the development process, we managed to overcome each challenge through patience, collaboration, and constant learning. Working with tools like JavaScript, Python, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and Figma allowed us to strengthen both our technical and creative skills. Additionally, developing a mobile app in collaboration with ARM was a highly valuable experience, as it gave us insight into how professional-level hardware and software integration works.

This project not only helped us improve our technical abilities but also taught us the importance of communication, organization, and teamwork to achieve satisfactory results for both our group and our sponsors.
