The Story Behind FoodSaver
Every day, restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and events have perfectly edible food left over. Meanwhile, NGOs and community organizations work to provide meals to those in need.
The problem isn't a lack of food; it's the gap between surplus food and the people who need it.
We wanted to create a straightforward way to close that gap.
That idea led us to FoodSaver, a food redistribution platform designed to connect restaurants and other food providers with NGOs and organizations that can use surplus food.
Instead of throwing away extra meals, a restaurant can list its available food, quantity, location, and freshness window. Nearby organizations can find those donations, claim them, and arrange for pickup before the food goes bad.
We also aimed to make the process feel practical rather than complicated. FoodSaver highlights nearby donations, shows how much time is left before food spoils, provides verification for participating organizations, and tracks the impact made through food redistribution.
The platform follows a simple journey:
Donate → Match → Pickup → Deliver → Impact
What began as an idea about reducing food waste grew into something bigger for us: a way to connect technology, sustainability, and community impact.
Our goal with FoodSaver is simple:
Good food should feed people, not landfills.
We built FoodSaver to turn every surplus meal into an opportunity to help someone.
