Inspiration
Global teams already collaborate across borders, but the financial work behind that collaboration is often scattered across inboxes, banking tools, and spreadsheets. A receipt starts on someone's phone. An invoice belongs to a project. An approval needs the right person and the evidence behind the request.
BUFI is a stablecoin-first financial workspace for flexible, remote teams. We are building for agencies, freelancers, and operators who need a clearer way to work together around money across locations and time zones. Latin America is our starting point, with a longer-term focus on collaboration and trade between Latin America and Asia.
What it does
BUFI's Android app brings everyday financial work onto your phone. A team member can upload an invoice, bill, receipt, expense, or reimbursement document on the go. Magic Inbox OCR extracts the details and keeps the source document attached to the right workspace, so the team can review the information in context.
The workflow continues from document upload to reimbursement submission: upload a receipt, review its extracted details, and submit a reimbursement request to the workspace. The request and its supporting evidence stay together for the people reviewing and approving it.
BUFI also brings invoice and reimbursement payments into the workspace workflow. Where enabled for the account and region, authorized team members can pay invoices and approved reimbursements using supported payment methods, including stablecoins. Stablecoin and other payment features remain subject to workspace permissions, required reviews, identity checks, supported regions, and provider availability.
This supports an agile, asynchronous way of working: capture a document on the go, let the right team members review and approve it in their own working hours, and keep the payment context alongside the supporting evidence. The shared workspace helps distributed teams coordinate the next step without losing the document or decision history between handoffs.
Personal and team views connect invoices, reimbursements, cards, balances, analytics, and approvals. The QR center supports payment QR review, BUFI-issued document validation, and document upload. Scanning a code does not automatically authorize a payment.
The mobile app is part of BUFI's broader vision for financial workspaces: connected documents, people, permissions, and workflows, with AI helping teams interpret information and prepare their next action.
How we built it
The Android experience connects mobile document capture with BUFI's existing web-based financial operations workflows. Instead of treating a phone upload as a separate file, BUFI routes it through Magic Inbox so the source document, extracted information, and workspace context can stay together.
Our wider platform uses a Next.js and TypeScript application layer with structured workflows, agent tools, and a business entity graph. The mobile experience builds on the same product principle: AI can help interpret information, while permissions, review, and explicit authorization govern sensitive actions.
Challenges
A financial document is useful only when the team can connect it to the right person, workspace, and next step. The challenge is preserving that context across mobile capture, review, and financial operations while keeping consequential actions under the right controls.
We also need to be clear about availability. A visible balance or payment option does not mean every account can use every financial service. Identity checks, provider availability, regional eligibility, and workspace permissions still matter.
What we are proud of
BUFI is publicly listed on Google Play, and its listing reports the initial production release on August 2, 2026. This brings mobile document capture and team-finance coordination into the same product as our web workflows.
The experience is designed around how teams work: a document arrives, the relevant information is reviewed, and the right people can coordinate the next step in the right workspace.
What we learned
The useful unit of financial collaboration is more than a transaction. It includes the source document, the people involved, the workspace, the permissions, and the decision that needs to happen next.
Our product direction is to make that context easier to work with, while keeping financial execution explicit and reviewable.
What's next
We plan to deepen BUFI's collaborative financial workflows and AI assistance, improve the connection between documents and operational decisions, and support more of the cross-border work that connects teams in Latin America and Asia.
BUFI is a financial operations layer, not a bank. Wallet, card, crypto, payment, and settlement features remain subject to eligibility, supported regions, and provider availability.
