Get Buffer with Buffr! 💪

Say hi to Buffr, an amazingly annoying Chrome extension that transforms passive media playback into a full upper-body workout.

Let’s be real: YouTube has made us too lazy. You click "play", lean back, and let the algorithm do the rest. It’s too easy. It’s too comfortable. It’s time we stop taking our entertainment for granted and start WORKING for it.

The Rules of the Game: 🎮

  • Mouth-Powered Audio: The volume is tied to your lips 👄 Open wide to hear your favourite song, or close it for absolute silence.
  • Right-Hand Crank: Control playback speed by waving your right hand 👋 Stop moving, and the video freezes. Move too fast, and you’ll speed through it. Vroom vroom!
  • Left-Hand Colour Depth: Use your left hand to get your colour back 🌈 Get complacent, and you’re back to deep-fried videos.
  • Blink Battery: FINAL BOSS – fail to blink enough 👀 and oopsies! Your session is terminated. Maybe it redirects you somewhere? ;)

How the Magic Happens: 🪄

  • We turn your webcam into a high-precision biometric sensor, using Google MediaPipe and WebAssembly (WASM) to keep tabs on 478 face landmarks and your entire skeletal structure in real-time.
  • For the visual effects, we injected a custom SVG Filter Engine directly into YouTube, letting us mess with the video colour when your left hand moves too slowly.
  • To keep things from lagging, we moved all key logic into a Chrome offscreen document. This lets the heavy math happen in the background so that the video stays smooth while you’re busy sweating.
  • To tie it all together, we wrote our own Speed, Blink, and Volume logic scripts. These files make sure that every blink and wave feels responsive, intentional, and just the right amount of exhausting.

What's Next? 🚀

Buffr is just getting started on its mission to make the internet a harder place to live! We’re already dreaming up a brand-new update, perhaps you’ll have to perform 20 deep squats just to bypass an unskippable YouTube ad 😱
