Inspiration

Whenever I work out in the gym, I always struggle to remember all my exercises. I also noticed many people carrying pieces of paper and notebooks to the gym and keep it next to the weights. BuffBro was designed to eliminate all of that I provide the same functions on an iOS device.

What it does

BuffBro allows users to create a custom workout plan by adding whichever exercises they wish to a list. They can specify the name, number of sets, and number of reps when creating an exercise entry. There is also a Progression feature which allows users to take a photo of themselves after every workout and save it to the app's gallery. Once users reach their fitness goals, they can view the progression of their physique through all the photos they have taken.

How I built it

I used Swift to write the app on Xcode 7 and used Adobe Photoshop to make visual assets.

Challenges I ran into

This was my first iOS app and it was very difficult to build, mainly because I was unfamiliar with the syntax of Swift. It was also tedious to look through Apple's docs and try to find out what exactly was going on in my code.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I was able to make my first iOS app. Also this is my first collegiate hackathon.

What I learned

I learned the basics of Swift and Xcode. I also learned how to access and use APIs of other companies and integrate their features into my app.

What's next for BuffBro

I hope to improve BuffBro sometime in the future by adding more features such as multiple workout plans, Facebook login integration, and workout schedules.
