BudgetLens AI – Project Story

Inspiration

BudgetLens AI was developed to help people understand government budget information easily. Budget reports are usually long and difficult to read, so this project makes them simple and understandable for everyone.

What We Learned

During this project, we learned:

• How to extract text from PDF files.
• How to present data using charts and graphs.
• How to translate summaries into Urdu.
• How to build a complete AI-based web application.

How We Built the Project

Document Processing

• Users upload a budget PDF.
• The system extracts text from the document.
• The text is cleaned for analysis.

AI Processing

• AI generates a simple summary of the budget.
• Important spending categories are identified.
• Summaries can also be translated into Urdu.

Visualization

• Budget data is displayed using charts.
• Users can easily see spending in sectors such as Education, Health, Infrastructure, and Defense.

Challenges Faced

• Extracting data from different PDF formats.
• Keeping AI summaries accurate and simple.
• Translating financial terms into Urdu.
• Connecting all system components together.

Conclusion

BudgetLens AI makes government budget information easier to understand. By using AI, summaries, translations, and visualizations, the system helps citizens better understand how public money is allocated and spent.
