Inspiration

Proper financial planning starts with financial literacy and most of us have no idea where to start. This is a skill one must have regardless of whether you’re a college student or a working professional. Having survived on ramen at the end of the month, we have wondered, where did all my money go? Perhaps if we could budget my expenses and keep track of my spending we would not be broke by the end of the month.

What it does

The application allows users to browse a financial dictionary of assorted tax, loan, and credit card terms, searchable by keyword, term name, or description. The applications allows users to adjust sliders to project possible combinations of monthly income and expenditures in different categories (rent, travel, food, entertainment, other). The application will allow users to set personal details (income and recurrence [weekly, biweekly], reoccurring monthly expenses, savings amount [percentage or dollar]). The application will allow users to add new expenses for the current month. The application will allow users to view their month's expenses and budget in a graph format.

How we built it

With love and affection

Challenges we ran into

Only one person in group with Mobile App experience. Selecting a database cloud service provided authentication issues for the small timeframe, and frequent switches between service provider meant a failure to fully implement database tie-ins throughout the application by final submission.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Financial dictionary interactions are user friendly.

What we learned

Mobile app development React Native JS coding MobX state management
