Inspiration: We were inspired by our own frustrations with managing money and how difficult it is so manage money solely based on current balance on our bank accounts.
How it works: User will input all of their incomes and expenses by category and set a percent saving goal of their income. The program will help calculate the percents savings and compare it to their goals as well as give current balance.
Challenges I ran into: we had difficulty with creating the pseudocode for our app since we have little experience coding.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: as first year computer science students our senior year, we have been learning about java for only three months and all of our coding has been with set instructions so we're proud to have been able to create an idea and build our program from scratch.
What I learned: It actually is easier to code than we thought and this was our first hackathon, so we learned how the hackathon process worked too.
What's next for BudgeTeen: we might use it for our own personal use. Maybe someday we can expand on it once we gain enough experience and make an applet.
