Welcome to our innovative recipe recommendation app. We set out to solve a common problem: how to make delicious meals while taking advantage of the best deals in your local grocery stores.

Inspiration

We're a group of passionate developers from Concordia University and Polytechnique, committed to making meal planning easier and more affordable for everyone.

What it does

Using our up-to-date, precise, local grocery flyers information and leading edge spoontacular API, we provide Montrealers affordable recipes using ingredients in BUDGET.

How we built it

This project leverages the full capabilities of Python, public available grocery data and the React framework.

Challenges we ran into

The robots.txt file placed on grocery websites disallowed access for our web crawlers and bots to essential parts of the site. We tried navigating these restrictions and tried getting as much public free data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very happy to have constructed a website that caters to out community, more specifically students on a budget like us.

What we learned

We learned how to work with the API, which was new for us.

What's next for BudgetBite

Ideally, we would love to automate the weekly updates. To do this, we would need certain accesses.
