Inspiration
Most people we know are running out of dining dollars at the end of the semester, so this would save time in knowing how much you could potentially spend throughout the semester.
What it does
Budget your dining dollars takes your input of dining dollar amounts and outputs a budget for how you could spend your dining dollars for the rest of the semester!
How we built it
The website was built using Wix, but the code for the budget page's function is written using javascript.
Challenges we ran into
The code was originally written in python, so in order to put it into a website we had to convert it to javascript, which required a lot of research on our part!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is both of our first hackathon, so we originally weren't planning on submitting something. It is cool to see that even though this website is small, that it was completed!
What we learned
When converting the python to javascript we learned that javascript calculates time in milliseconds, so when you input a number of dining dollars at different points through the day, the budget will update in real time to be more accurate.
What's next for Budget Your Dining Dollars
The code for the calculator can be changed to accommodate for future semesters, so this could potentially be an ongoing calculator.
