Inspiration
We have friends who feel like they make poor financial decisions. Whether that be getting an iced coffee every morning or simply splurging their monthly salary in one go, they find thier habits don't align with how much money they would like to save.
What it does
This website will calculate the ins and outs of their spending habits to let the user understand what habits they should change.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
We had issues with trying to incorporate the necessary tools to be able to run our product. It took us way longer than expected, which really delayed our brainstorming for our project. We are first time hackers anyways, so of course there was tons of trials and errors we faced.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of being able to understand how to set up this whole project as first time hackers. As well as getting ahold of what each of us were comfortable using (like Java, TypeScript, etc) to make the best product.
What we learned
We learned how to troubleshoot the terminals, using Tailwind, setting OnChange attributes into functions, which allowed us to compute the users input in real time.
What's next for Budget Tracker
Our next steps include integrating visual spending analytics, allowing users to save and revisit their budgets, and improving customization options for categories. We’re also exploring the possibility of secure account logins and automated expense imports in the future.
