Inspiration
We realized that cooking is hard especially for us and for other people, especially college students so we wanted to create something to help everyone either learn to cook or give recipes to healthy options
What it does
It takes an input of ingredients from the user from the search engine and from there it gives a recommendation of different recipes that include the ingredients given by the user
How we built it
We used express node js to set up our website and from there one of us created the UI/UX then we found an API that worked for our type of project then we found out how to access and use the API once that all worked out we worked on displaying the information from the data that the API gave us from there we fixed up on some minor UI/UX details and we were done.
Challenges we ran into
Probably the main challenge we ran into was getting the APIs to work together with everything else in the project and then having to display the images and text correctly
Accomplishments that we're proud of
That we were able to use the API and that we were able to create a website that actually works because none of us were proficient in any node or html coding
What we learned
We definitely learned a lot about API and Web Dev, because this was our first time using an API for a project we didn't really know what to expect with
What's next for Budget Cook
In the future, we would love to implement a feature where you could input a budget of how much you want to spend on ingredients. We would also like to include the nutrition facts of each recipe and filter to where it would share more healthy options so people would have the ability to access healthy food at an affordable price.
