Inspiration
As college students, managing finances is one of the biggest challenges we face. Between tuition, rent, food, and entertainment, it's easy to lose track of spending and end up broke before the month ends. We wanted to create a simple, intuitive tool that helps students take control of their money without the complexity of traditional budgeting apps.
What it does
Budget Buddy is a comprehensive student finance tracker that helps college students:
- Track Expenses: Log daily expenses across categories like Food, Transport, Books, Entertainment, and Rent
- Monitor Income: Record income from allowances, part-time jobs, or scholarships
- Set Budgets: Define monthly spending limits and get alerts when approaching them
- Visualize Spending: Beautiful pie charts and graphs show spending patterns at a glance
- Set Savings Goals: Create and track progress toward financial goals
- Real-time Dashboard: See your total income, expenses, balance, and savings instantly
How we built it
We built Budget Buddy entirely on Base44, leveraging its AI-powered no-code platform to rapidly develop a fully functional web application. The app includes:
- Responsive dashboard with real-time statistics
- Data persistence for all transactions

- Visual analytics with interactive charts
- User authentication system
- Clean, modern UI with student-friendly blue/green color scheme
Challenges we ran into
