Inspiration
As college students and recent grads, we've noticed that many of our peers are entering the real world without a real background in financial literacy. We also wanted to "break down" complex financial goals into easily digestible daily tasks, and gamify the process to improve user consistency.
What it does
Budget Buddy gamifies all things financial literacy, with an emphasis on budgeting and helping users, specifically young college graduates, future-proof themselves from recessions.
How we built it
- We ideated in Figma, and then built the app in React. ## Challenges we ran into:
- It took us time to determine which goals would translate most easily to establishing financial literacy and have most benefit to the user. In addition, we spent time streamlining the UI to allow ease of access for users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
- Completing a responsive single-page web application.
- Ideating and coming up with a gamified, financial literacy app.
What we learned:
- How to use React, how to translate complex gamified apps.
- How to create a responsive web app, given our various backgrounds and skillsets in programming.
What's next for Budget Buddy:
- We plan to create a mobile version of the app for ease of customer use, in addition to allowing for push notifications so users can be more up-to-date.
- With more security features, users can link their Venmo, PayPal, and bank account to automatically and accurately track their income and spending.
- Allow user social networks to keep up with their peers.
