Inspiration

Financial literacy is one of the most impactful advantages that young people of our modern generation can have. We wanted to help young people like ourselves better familiarize themselves with their finances and learn how to effectively allocate their funds.

What it does

Budget Buddy acts as a virtual finance consultant and spending tracker at the same time. Use Budget Buddy to build better spending habits and become more involved in your finances.

How I built it

Budget Buddy was built using primarily DialogFlow for the voice interaction and utilizes a realtime Firebase database to store financial data.

Challenges and Accomplishments

2 of our members were first time hackers so there was a steep learning curve, but despite that, by the end of the night (morning) we are all very proud of what we've accomplished.

How to build a voice app, use DialogFlow, and Firebase.

What's next for Budget Buddy

Use OCRs to scan in receipts physical credit card statements for more accurate tracking. Use REST API interface exposed by API.AI to prompt daily and weekly, and monthly check-ins.
