Inspiration
My inspiration for this project was looking at my bank account last night before I went to bed, and being really sad when I saw it.
What it does
Budget Buddy allows users to input transactions that they made, including where it came from, the date, the price, and the category of purchase. It stores and keeps a list of transactions a user makes unless they click the button that deletes all transactions. Additionally there is a live-tracking pie chart that visually shows all spending by category. Lastly there is also a live tracker of the user's balance and number of transactions.
How we built it
For the front-end, I used react and tailwind.css with very little node.js implementation for my backend. I used node to parse and store data into localStorage. The program is deplpoyed on Vite and workflow was managed on GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part for me was using Tailwind.css. Front end development, especially in CSS is not my strong suit, so I definitely had to get out of my comfort zone and be ready to learn many features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am most proud of implementing the sheer amounts of features that I did by myself in one day, and learning a lot about front end stacks such as React, Tailwind, etc... things that I had no exposure to beforehand.
What's next for Budget Buddy
Now after presenting, I would like to work on polishing some front-end elements, possibly adding a couple new features, and maybe even trying to develop a backend.
