Inspiration
We realized that we keep making a lot of unnecessary spending habits. Such as spending hundreds of dollars on buying lunch for school every day. We desperately needed to start creating a budget and managing our money in a smarter way because we were on the road to becoming broke.
What it does
It is a budget planner. It keeps track of your income and expenses as well as setting financial objectives in hopes of making smarter spending habits.
How we built it
We built it through Replit using Python and Tkinter.
Challenges we ran into
The code was very time-consuming which was a big disadvantage for us since we were already behind because we didn’t settle on an idea until 8 hours before the hackathon deadline.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of the fact that we were able to complete a project and submit it on time.
What we learned
We learned how to use Python and Tkinter more effectively.
What's next for Budget Buddy
Adding additional features such as budgeting tips and monthly budgeting reminders. We also want to try to add a feature that sends a notification every time you spend money.
