Inspiration
A friend was struggling with their budgeting practices and gave me the idea to build something to visually add and view their expenses and subscriptions.
What it does
With features like authentication, expense and subscription tracking, budget overview, and a stats page, the app aims to provide you with a holistic financial snapshot.
How we built it
I first brainstormed the idea of a budget planner and created use cases and then developed the backend apis for each of the needed functions. Following this I developed the frontend to use the made apis to visualize the functionalities.
Challenges we ran into
The subscription functionality was having difficulties because of how the date added and ended was implemented but with some trial and error I was able to make it work for the most part.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to actually develop the web application and visualize the data entered with the additional functionalities like illustrating it using bar graphs is something I was proud of.
What we learned
I got more experience building MERN applications. I especially got a lot more practice building apis in the backend and apply the knowledge I had from previous full stack projects.
What's next for Budget Bud
Adding more functionalities including: -Personal Chatbot -Download expenses in a set period (PDF/Excel) -Add a level system
