Inspiration: The Story Behind My App Idea

"Technology should simplify life, not complicate it—especially for those who aren't fluent in it." My Inspiration Growing up in a small town, I was always surrounded by people who relied on me for anything tech-related. Being an engineering student, I naturally became the go-to person for troubleshooting, searching, and explaining apps and websites. A Real-Life Problem My parents, who studied in a Kannada-medium background, often faced difficulties when trying to buy products online. They would recognize items by their packets or containers but not by their English names. So, they’d come to me with a packet and ask me to search it online. I’d Google the item, copy its name, and paste it on Amazon or Flipkart. This repeated task, though small, started becoming a daily struggle. More Than Just Shopping While observing people around me, I found more such challenges: Most people didn’t have a way to track their monthly salary or expenses. During purchases of gold or silver, many were unaware of accurate prices and lost money due to hidden charges. They needed tools and warnings to help make smarter financial decisions. My Solution So I decided to build an app that addressed these real-life problems with practical features: Image-based product search – Instead of typing, users could scan or upload product packets. Multi-language support – So local users can navigate in their own language (like Kannada, Tamil, etc.). Salary tracking and expense management – A simple tool to manage income and spending. Gold & silver price alerts – With disclaimers to avoid risky buying decisions. Why It Matters It’s not just an app; it’s a tool to bridge the gap between technology and non-English speakers. It empowers users who are often left out of the digital revolution. It reflects real issues faced by my parents, friends, and neighbors. "Whatever challenges I saw while helping my family, I transformed them into features—so everyone can use technology more easily and confidently."

What it does

It is basically E-commerce website named as "BUDGET IQ": Main aim is to "Maintain the budget of the individual" along with the many other features which are not provided by any present E-commerce website.

  1. It enables the person to buy the items as per their requirement. 2.In search bar it includes the image option and voice option to search the product they want. 3.In search bar when any "gold and silver " are being searched it displays the present prize of it and raise and fall of the of the price in recent times. 4.It provides only government authorized data, we will also show the disclaimer during the buying the product.
  2. It gives the option to upload the budget of monthly and weekly whenever he buys the budget keeps on decreasing. 6.It displays the daily new stocks arrived, trending items, and offers available.
  3. There are the categories sorted according to the user's availability. 8.It provides window in the multi-language so that anyone can use it.
  4. This helps in maintaining the budget when someone is buying the same thing more than three times in the same month it gives the caution that is it really necessary along with one saving motivational quote.
  5. We can also paste the YouTube URL using that it displays the similar products for the buying purpose.
  6. When the budget is completed, it gives the loan options and EMI options for all the items.
  7. When any gold or silver jewelry picture is upload it give the approximate number of grams required to do the designs and according to the present price how much does it cost.

How we built it

I built completely using the bolt ai. It is actually great platform to build but the problem is that it provides the data with defined data. I also used ChatGPT for the prompts and the realistic details to include in it.

Challenges we ran into

  1. It is easy to build using the bolt ai but it gives all the defined data it could be much difficult for a person to make it realistic. 2.When 2 or more prompts are uploaded it clarifies one 1 prompts perfectly not all.
  2. As more prompts are giving on the same project to starts hanging so we have to start it from first.
  3. If new prompts are given of some particular section, it updates on the particular prompts and deletes all the previous data related to that section.
  4. It takes more time to update each prompt.
  5. Network issues cause the work to start from first, it is basically irritating stuff.
  6. In particular section if we have mentioned one like in language if said it correct it corrects only the Telugu stuff not all the language.
  7. More than 10 times I have tried language but some of the things is not showing properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

BUDGET IQ isn’t just another e-commerce platform—it’s a smarter, budget-conscious, and inclusive shopping experience designed with the real needs of users in mind. Here’s what we’re proud to have accomplished in our project: 1.Created a budget-focused e-commerce platform that not only allows users to shop, but also helps them actively manage their personal finances. 2.Integrated an intelligent search bar with image and voice input, making it easier for users—especially those with language or literacy barriers—to find what they need without typing. 3.Added real-time gold and silver price tracking in the search feature, including recent price trends and clear disclaimers backed by government-authorized data. 4.Implemented a live budget tracker that decreases dynamically as users shop, with support for weekly and monthly budget uploads. 5.Introduced smart spending alerts—when a user tries to buy the same item more than three times a month, the app warns them and displays a motivational quote to encourage mindful purchasing. 6.Displayed trending products, new arrivals, and active offers daily to help users make informed choices. 7.Organized the product categories in a user-friendly way, tailored to the individual’s preferences and browsing behavior. 8.Developed a feature that accepts YouTube URLs to extract product references and suggest similar items for purchase—bridging the gap between video content and shopping. 9.Provided smart loan and EMI suggestions when a user's budget is exhausted, ensuring they still have access to essential purchases. 10.Enabled jewelry image analysis, allowing users to upload pictures of gold/silver ornaments and receive an estimated weight (grams) and cost based on real-time market value.

What we learned

1.How to implement new things.

  1. how ideas when we dive deep into the concepts 3.How easily we integrate the things using AI. 4.We can easily take our imaginations into reality

What's next for Budget

1.We can integrate the google maps with the product wanted. 2.Notifications if someone did not buy anything in a month.

  1. If user saves more than last month in the budget, we can issue rewards.
